KD Displays started as a family run operation that primarily dealt with floorcovering displays. “KD” stands for Knock Down and its meaning was derived from the fact that it required customers to assemble the retail displays on site.
During its early years, KD mainly worked with flooring distributors across North America including some of the majors like Bruce, Mohawk and Kronotex. As their business and customer requirements evolved, so did the need to diversify their offerings.
Brad Robinson, who was working in retail his entire life set out to redefine and optimize operations. Display companies were providing full end-to-end services and Brad understood that to be competitive, he needed to create a full service organization for people looking to market/brand/lift their sales. Brad wanted to help customers bring their products to life through better retail experiences. He also recognized that it was important to keep their existing clients happy and not abandon what made them successful in the beginning. With this newly found focus, KD Displays began working with major retailers and grew from exclusively focusing on floor coverings into a full service retail activation company.
KD Displays started building their presence in the retail sector by designing store interiors – serving clients like Pet Valu, Blue Notes, Urban Planet and Adidas. They also found a niche in building retail environments for the powersports industry with brands like Honda, Kawasaki and BRP.
Being in the industry for over 25 years does not come without effort, sacrifice and continual learning. From its inception, KD Displays always focused on providing the best value for its customers. From humble beginnings designing floor POP displays to creating retail environments for some of the world’s largest brands – KD will always proudly be, customer first.
About our founder
Brad Robinson
Brad’s story starts at Nevada Bob’s. A failing Golf franchise he took over with his brother. Within three years, he had successfully turned the franchise around and added two additional locations. The show piece location in Markham changed the way Golf retail was done. The innovative retail model enabled manufacturers to add their own boutiques to allow customers to see and touch all of their latest products. After 10 years, the franchise was sold.
With Brad’s experience, deep understanding of retail and passion for design, he was ready to start a new journey. Shortly thereafter, Brad became the leader of a small display firm known as KD Displays and he has never looked back since.
